FAQs

Where do we spend the first night on tour?

Your first night will be spent at Costa Verde Inn, San José Province, Escazu, Costa Rica.

Where does the tour end?

On the final day, you will be where you began the tour in Escaszu – about 35/40 minutes from San Jose.

Where should I fly into?

Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO) in San José.

Will I be picked up from the airport?

Yes, your tour includes an airport pick-up on Day 1 of the tour. Please ensure you inform our reservations team on your incoming flight details. Note: If you arrive earlier than Day 1, you will need to arrange your own pickup.

How much spending money do I need for this tour?

Spending varies from person to person and you’ll receive a spending guide in your welcome pack, but $50 USD per day is plenty on average. Tipping is customary in Costa Rica, especially for good service at restaurants, around 10% of the bill. We usually find it easier if your group leader says how much the tip should be and everyone can pitch in together to form a kitty which will cover you for any hotels or restaurants we visit on tour together.

Can I bring a 20kg suitcase on this trip?

We wouldn’t recommend bringing more than 15-20kg on this tour as it will be more comfortable for you to carry less.

Can you cater for my dietary requirements?

Yes, we can cater for most dietary requirements. Restaurants and eateries in Costa Rica often offer vegetarian options, and it’s usually easy to find delicious and satisfying meals without meat. Please notify us prior to arriving on day 1 so we can arrange this for you where meals are included.

Will I have any free time during the tour?

Yes, there are several days with free time for you to explore on your own or participate in optional activities like ziplining, surfing, snorkeling, or relaxing at the beach.

Is travel insurance required?

Yes, travel insurance is required for all of our tours. It should cover medical expenses, trip cancellations, lost luggage, and personal liability. Proof of insurance may be requested before the tour begins.

Is there WiFi throughout the trip?

WiFi is available at accommodations during the trip, but it’s not always reliable. We recommend picking up a local SIM card on arrival if you need to be online frequently. In more remote locations, the connection may be less reliable.

Is there safe drinking water in Costa Rica?

In Costa Rica, tap water is generally safe to drink in most urban areas, including the capital city, San José, and popular tourist destinations. However, in rural or remote areas, the quality of tap water can vary, and it’s often recommended to drink bottled or purified water to avoid any potential health issues.

Is Costa Rica safe to travel?

Costa Rica is generally a safe and welcoming destination for travellers. It’s advisable to stay informed about local customs and respect cultural norms, especially in nature reserves and national parks. We provide more details about this when you receive your welcome pack.

What is the rooming situation like?

During this tour, you’ll stay in a mix of inns, eco-lodges, and hostels, typically in multi-share rooms. At this time,  single upgrades are not available.

What time can I fly out on the last day?

On the final day, we recommend the earliest flight departure at 11:00 AM from Juan Santamaria Airport. Please allow 45 minutes to get to the airport.
